Good Night, Sleep Tight

We were at the end of a full day of biking and hiking. While it had been a cloudy day, it had also been remarkably beautiful.

Arriving back at the farmstead where we were staying, we unpacked the car and brought in our groceries. Our next activity: prepare our evening meal and settle in for the night. I walked outside for one last look across the corn field behind the house, thinking that maybe I could catch sight of some deer coming around for an early evening snack.

As I scanned the acreage, the setting sun dropped below the cloud cover. It had came to say goodnight to the upper Door Peninsula. It kissed the corn, tickled the clouds, patted the trees on the far side of the cornfield on their collective heads…and turned out the lights.
